Is there any way to cancel out the maint light? It started blinking at 6000 miles. I would think that the Valvoline oil change station would know how or do it. However they don't. <br /><br /> Pretty sure it is for the oil change, its running like it should. I gotta admit that 292 chebby is alot stronger in power than the 300 6cyl ford that I had previously. Man ole man, Did I say that? Geeesh, I'm loosing my Ford is best attitude.

Read the manual??? Gotta be an easy way to reset a maintanance lite.

The oil change light? Turn on the ignition key (do not start) and then pump the gas pedal 3 times wait 10 seconds and turn off the key. Restart and the oil change light should be out.<br /><br />Bob

And if that doesn't work, and definately if your radio has the letters "RDS" on the front, do this:<br /><br />Key in the run position, but engine not running<br />Radio off, press and hold lower button (tuner) until the menu comes up on the radio display<br />Use the button labelled "next" to get to "Oil something", press lower tuner button, and you'll hear a beep, and the display will say reset. Scroll to exit push tuner button, turn off key.<br />If that's the system you have, everything is adjustable that way. The horn beeping when you use remote keyless entry, how long the lights stay on after you turn off the truck, everything. Have fun.

I finally got around to doing the ignition/gas pedal trick. It took care of my problem. Thanks a bunch! LMAO because my boss took his Chebby in to the dealer and it cost $65 for them to do it. Sometimes it would be nice if the boss listened to me.

It is the oil life system. When that light goes on and stays on for a few minutes while you drive you either need an oil change OR you need to kick the person in the butt who changed to oil and did not reset the system.
