After 92,000 miles, the pads are about done and the dealer wants about $400, for for the job.

Anyone know how much different these brakes are than the non-hybrid, as far as pad removal?

Honestly, since we purchased this 3 years ago, it came with a prepaid maintenance plan (no charge to us) and since I have plenty of other stuff to work on, I have not even had a tire off. The dealer has done all of the oil changes, etc, something unheard of in this house.

Time to get out the jack and invest in a Chilton's manual.

Definately time for a manual. It *should* answer your question and a lot more, for about $20.

No magic involved. The hybrid front pads are just as easy as non hybrid. If you pop the front wheel and have done them before you will see.

For the quoted $400 price you can put new rotors and brakes on your highlander. The "top of the line" NAPA rotors are better IMO then the OEM Toyota ones.

Great news. Thanks for the info.

This Highlander (hers) is the only vehicle, my wife as "not hated" in the 20 years we've been married. Even admitted she "loved" it. It's will be around a while. ;)

I just love flooring it, as it takes off like a shot. Too afraid to see what it will do top end - already too many points on my CDL.
