I believe my 06 Q6 fuel pump finally crapped the bed. Has anyone here had to replace one yet? Doesn`t look too tough but brands and prices are all over the place. Looking for experiences on the quality and reliability of electric fuel pumps that have been replaced. Thanks

Lol. I'm pretty sure it does have an electric fuel pump. Well I have an update. I was on,the lake this weekend and my boat just beeped and shutoff. It started right back up, but shortly after, died again. I had been having a strange intermittent surge recently from time to time when cruising. I thought my fuel pump was going out. It wouldn't shut off the engine but would just give what I can only describe as a burp. No noise, just a momentary burp like it died and then keep going. Well when the issue happened on the lake this weekend I assumed fuel pump. I took off the flame arrestor and could see no fuel in my carburetor when jockeying starter when trying a restart. She cranked over fine and was showing 20 psi oil pressure on cranking. When bigot her on the driveway, I disconnected fuel line at carb and hooked up a small hose on the line and into a bucket. Sure enough. Zero fuel. I then disconnected the oil pressure sensor connector by the oil filter and oil sender unit. Used a jumper to bypass the switch, turned my ignition on and sure enough, fuel entering bucket! Long story short, the culprit was a bad oil pressure switch. I'm not sure if that was causing the intermittent surge but I will keep all updated. I will insert photos to let you all see what I'm talking about. This is off my Tahoe Q6 5.0 carbureted boat. Hope this helps someone out there.

Probably best to say what engine you have . . . probably a Mercruiser 5.0 w/ Alpha 1 :noidea: It's all about the brand of engine and not the brand of boat.

Along with no fuel pump, Q6's don't have oil pressure switches.

I guess my subtle prod to tell us what powers your Q6 didn't work.

Ayuh,..... In this forum, We don't care what the boat is, But,....
We Need to know the motor, drive, what year, 'n possibly the serial numbers of 'em,.....
You don't mention the motor, til post #3, 'n no mention of the drive,.....
Which is what the other posters are hintin' at,.....
Anyways,......
You wouldn't see gas by runnin' the starter, you have to pump the Throttle,......
'n in the driveway, you wouldn't see gas from yer hose, unless crankin' the starter, or after the motor starts,.....
With just the key "On", no oil pressure, No power to the fuel pump,.....

From yer symptoms,..... Have you checked the Contents of the fuel filter, for anything but clean fresh gasoline,..??

Thanks for the info Bondo. This issue had been intermittent for a while now so I had gone thru all the motions. Heet in the fuel tank, fresh fuel with quicklean added. Full tuneup and water separator. All to no avail with the intermittent problem. The reason I DID have fuel coming from my fuel pump in my driveway, was because I jumpered the oil pressure switch. With the ignition switch to on, the fuel pump was fooled into believing the engine had oil pressure.
