My girlfriends dad recently brought his boat in for maintenance and the shop called and said cylinder three had no compression and it needed to replace the head gasket. Quoted him at $800 now I've never done much work on boats but this motor is basically a car engine and I've replaced numerous head gaskets in car and was wondering if it would be much different doing the head gasket on this volvo penta 3.0 glp-e

Any help would be great. Even a reference as to where I could get a good DIY or manual

Thank you very much in advance.. Any other info needed let me know

Re: 07 3.0 glp-e head gasket

Is it easily accessible? I've worked on many where I've had to hang upside down and work in a space no bigger than a doghouse and had to hire a skinny 7 year old kid to slide down in there to retrieve all the tools I dropped in the bilge. I can honestly say it is installations like that that have made my swearing vocabulary the imaginative thesaurus it is today. The point is labor may be most of that. It's nothing like working on a car.

Ayuh,.... It's 'bout the Easiest of head gaskets to change,...

I find it even Easier to yank the motor out, 'n work on a Stand,...

The boat don't get near as greasy, 'n dirty,... no lost wrenches in the bilge either,... ;)

I donno if there's links to the Volvo 3.0l manual or not,...
But, up in Don'S Adults Only section, at the top of this forum,...
You'll find links to the Mercruiser factory manuals for their 3.0l, which is 'bout the Same motor,...

Btw,... Pull the Drive, then the motor,...
