How hard is it to change the impeller on a 2007 Alpha one drive? I live in a freezing winter climate and I am not sure how often to change the impeller.
I read every couple years but will freezing cause it to break down faster?
Thanks

Re: 07 Alpha One Impeller

It's an Alpha I Gen II. The impeller should be good for at least 3 years of normal use. No reason to change it yet (unless you have had overheat problems).

Normally on Mercruiser drives, the impellers should be changed during winterization. Since the drive needs to come off to check the alignment and service the ujoints and gimbal bearing and change gear lube. All you do is seperate the upper and lower units of the outdrive and change the impeller.

The OEM service manual has the full instruction. Here is a link to the online manual ..,..... for free.
