1.50 knock while in gear

mercruser 1.50 knocking while in gear in driveway or in bay. I can take it out of gear no knocking/grumbling. I can turn left or right out of gear nothing. While in gear turn left or right knocking/grumbling the same. noise sounds low to middle of out drive. help! thanks for any help.

U-Joints... They make noise under a load! Most have grease fittings untill a certain year Also check the gimble bearing while your in their!
