I have a 1.6 seadrive with a bad cylinder, and was thinking about ordering a remanufactured powerhead. If I stepped up to a 140 crossflow, what changes would have to be made? Would I need an old 140 to steal parts from? Carbs, intake, etc.? Thanks, Rob.

Re: 1.6 seadrive to 140 crossflow

Why not just get a complete 140? I got a remanufactured powerhead for one of my 1987 1.6L SeaDrives last year. OMC rates the 1987 1.6L at 110 hp (per the shop manual). I think there is much more to it than swapping a few parts to go from a 110 to a 140.

Lots of posts on this site from guys who want to do the same. The advice from the "super wrenches" here is consistantly the same - Don't bother.
