The flywheels are different, as are the couplers - other than that you can use the newer block.

On the 5.7 the older style 2 Pc seal is a 3 1/2" bolt pattern flywheel. The newer style is a 3".

I had to buy a new flywheel and coupler when I bought a new engine a couple months ago because I thought the old engine was the 1 Pc and it wasn't.

Here at iboats eu sold my coupler for $199 bit I paid $230 just to get it faster. You will also need a new flywheel. That's another $100-150.

Just get a 1 pc like you have now.

Are you using the heads from the 305? If you put the 305 heads on the 350, your compression very likely will be too high. Be sure the chambers of the heads are not too small.

Gimbal bearing will likely be in need of it if the bellows has let water in, checkl the rear mounts to be sure they haven't colapsed and if your floor is rotten, you may well have a much bigger job on your hands - often that means stringers and maybe even transom are in need of work. I'd check the structure under the front mounts carefully for rot - the engine woud most likely have to come out if you;ve got stringer problems anyhow...
Lower shift cable, paint the bilge area while you're there and whatever else the man says to check... :)
