hi, ive just inherited a 9.9 hk yam. (682) s 009150. 4 months ago everything was fine but now the flywheel wont move at all. the motor hasn,t been started in about 4 years. could the move from a warm heated garage to my cold basement have cause this? the motor has been very well cared for its entire life. should it be possible to break it loose again? ie dw40! any tips, ideas or magic spells would be greatly appreciated. thanks

Re: 10 hk yam jammed

I would start by injecting about an ounce of penetrating oil into each cylinder with the head up, Griz.

After that has soaked for a couple of days try again to move the flywheel (spark plugs out). If the rings have stuck that should free it up.

The lock could be in the foot. Try to turn the prop with the gearcase on neutral.

Good luck. :)
