Does the 10% rule still hold for Electronic fuel injected four stroke outboard engines? I would think it would be at least a little more efficient.

Ok does 9% make you feel better? 10% is a rough rule but surprisingly accurate. And that is at WOT lower throttle settings will yield considerably better economy.

There are lower throttle settings? I thought that was just wasted space.

My boat was equipped with the Johnson smart switch option. It's either full on or off... This alleviates all the extra dash space required by a full binnacle adn replaces it with two toggles - throttle on/off and gear F-N-R.

WOT the efi 4 and dfi 2 strokes are roughly 8-9% and the old 2 strokes 10-12% so the rough 10% is accurate enough. Its the midrange and idle where the new engines shine.
