I have been stripping parts from a 115 merc to put on a 90 merc, so far most of the parts are the same. Would I get more hp or drown out the motor with these 115 carbs. I know for a fact that these carbs work fine, as the 115 motor was running when I started stripping it about a month ago. (115 has a bad piston)

The 90 carbs are fine, I get about 50mph out of my 17' bass boat on glassy water, trimmed out with only me in it. But I hate to see the 115 carbs go to waste........

opinions anyone?

Howdy, Mnmfors. My GUESS is that the 115 Carbs have bigger venturis and would give your engine more HP but poorer idle. Since you already have them, what do you have to lose??

Red sky at night. . .
JB :)

Thanks for the input J.B,

How much of an idle difference do you think I would see?

if you're going to try them, I think I'd overhaul them first, since they may have eaten a piston in a different life...
 =lean?

there is a major internal difference between these 2 motors......the 115 is a piston ported engine, the 90 is not....block an pistons different........

Hello and thanks for replying, ODDD1,schematic

ODDD1, I guess what you are saying is that the 115 carbs would not give correct amount of gas/oil? Carbs look Idenical, and the motor idled and ran fine at WOT after plane was achieved, it was just hard to get on a plane. thats the reason I considered it.

Good point schematic about possible lean prob on those carbs

I guess it would be best to keep stock carbs for now.
