115 evinrude 84 thermo question

i have a 84 115 evinrude . replacing the thermos for one didnt have any ? got the kit my question is when i put it back together it says when you put the thermos in you put a round gasket over the top of them and then the valve body gasket when you do that the valve body gasket sits a hair on top not flush does not look right to me any answers wood greatly help thanks..

You can see a picture of the factory thermostat parts assembly diagram online at: epc.brp.com. That may help. You can zoom in with your mouse to see the diagram clearer.

Check this out. Plug in your make, model and year and you will get to the parts diagrams. Check you have everything in order before assembly.

The round cork gasket goes on the other end of the thermostat before you insert it in the valve body.

the 2 round gaskets , when i put them in they make the other long gasket not sit flush. dont understand ?
