Hi there fellow boat owners,
model No E115DSLIIB
Serial No 05297701
08/2010

Ok so while fishing I went to start the boat to make a shift, wouldn't start and motor wouldn't tilt up or down.

Got the boat home and looked into the possible problems.

Gauges have power and light up as normal, when you turn the key there is a ticking noise right near the capacitor I believe its the tilt relay.

There is power to the main computer on the top of the motor as all the lights come on when you turn on the ignition.

Fully charged battery.

I'm thinking there may be two possible problems one is the tilt relay and the other has something to do with the 12 v starting system.

I've booked in the boat to the mechanics but there flat out and I've got a few weeks wait, thought id try my luck and see if someone could point me in the right direction.

thanks in advance

2011 ETEC no ?? does it have a PDP ??

did you check the fuse ?
try wiggling a few wires around while activating T&T buttons could be bad connections or corroded wire crimps .

T&T should work on its own... so find the fix and the rest will likely work OK see drawing

Thanks for the drawing I’ll give it a go today, I’ll keep you posted.

as you can see the side trim switch on the engine gets 12V from the selenoid connections (red) then goes to a fuse #10 and down to the trim switch

then a pair of GREEN WHITES are routed to the relay pack and the front shifter control via a connector #19

the relay pack simply reverses polarity to the trim motor to go up or down

not much to go wrong here...

BAD FUSE ? probably not because other stuff not fed by the fuse does not work

Bad connection/corroded ? most likely

Reading voltages may seem ok but....it could be a resistive 12V due to oxydation in connections or crimps on the cables to/from the battery .
so check and/or redo connections where 12V shows up on terminal points ... twist and wiggle crimp points ... flex cables while pressing a trim switch.
keep us posted :)

You are spot on Crosby Man, after studying the electrical drawing I started my fault finding.
It was the connections on the starter solenoid, loose and a little corroded.

Thanks for everybody’s efforts and reply’s.
