Hey there, in the midst of disassembling my gearcase. Question is? Reverse gear is the up or down position on the shift rod. I can't remember and I know it has to be in reverse to pull everything out.

Thanks

I can't remember, but you could rotate the drive shaft and move the shift shaft to find reverse.

If it's a full manual shift the shift rod is pushed down to put it into rev so the linkage in the front of the hsg clears for removal. Don't forget to remove the shift rod.
