Hello All:

We just purchased a 22ft South Bay (twin toons) with a 115 4 stroke Honda. Looking to find out if anyone else is running somewhat the same package and let me know what prop you're using.

Thanks!

OK, I'll reply. I don't have the same setup but similar. I have twin toon 24' with a 115hp Merc. with full enclosure. I am currently running a 13 3/4 X15 but can only get 4800 RPM. Last week, I changed to 14X11 SS Prop but hit 6000 RPM with 3/4 throttle.

The SS Prop is now at a prop rebuild shop. They are going to change it to a 13" pitch and put more 'cup' in the prop.

I will be out of town for the next couple of weeks, so I'll report back later in the month to report the results.

If you are looking for a prop recommendation, I think a 15" pitch will probably work for you.

The motor came with a OE 13 3/4 x 13. I'm not trying to turn this into something it wasn't meant to be. I just want to make sure I'm getting the best all round safe performance capability from what I have.

Thanks!

An 11 pitch revs to high, a 15p revs too low, and you own a 13p. The solution seems obvious.

Your prop is probably fine. What you want to achieve is for the max RPM of your motor, with normal load and conditions, to be within the rated specs. You can find this spec in your motor manual but is probably about 5200 to 5800 RPM.

The solution was obvious only after I gained the data from the 11 pitch prop. As stated in the post, I don't own a 13 pitch. I am having the 11 pitch rebuilt to a 13 pitch with some cup added for additional torque.

Sorry EGR, getting the two posts mixed. Sounds like his 13p will serve him best.

i also have the 115hp Honda on a 20 ft Triton. I am running a 13p Mercury Sluminum prop. I max out at 5600 WOT, which is right at spec. I do have one question though, do the Stabilizer fins that are available aftermarket really worth it?
