My approx 1980+ Johnson starts and idles rough when warm, even dying occasionally,(after running for a while) but the engine dies as soon as the throttle is opened. If I use the choke and fast idle for a bit and then open her up everything is fine. She goes like a bullet even for the altitude I run at (1600 meters, about 4800 feet above sea level)

Re: 115 Johnson flooding

Howdy Gerhard
I'm no expert here but i'll give it a try. I would take the carbs off and give them a good cleaning. Use carb cleaner and take care in making sure you get to all those tiny orifaces. Wear safety glasses because sometimes the stuff comes out were you least expect it. Get yourself a manual. It will explain all the setup(link and sync)you will need to know and pay for itself very quickly. Also try having a look at this thread Fuel Issue

Just my $.02 worth
Good luck
