Hello, took my boat out with my nephew this last Friday and my outboard hit something under the water which is still unknown. Whatever it was I felt it and now have quarter size chunk missing from one of the prop blades. What i just recently noticed this afternoon is that i can move my rop and shaft in and out of the lower case about an inch each way. I think i also hear a rattle in the shaft housing when i manually spin the prop. Like a loose bearing ball rolling around (similar sound like that). Obviously, something is damaged, though our fishing trip went well without any noticeable speed/accelleration/shift problems.
Has anyone had a similar incident and discovered what to look for in the lower unit assembly? Im not looking forward to taking anything apart until i hear some advise/ tips from this forum.
Thank you for reading and taking the time to reply.
Wondering if i can keep the lower unit attached and inspect by removing the prop and shaft assembly or if it is more difficult than i am expecting?
