Hi, I have a four winns fling that is running lean. I can't get the idle below 1900rpm. When I try to lower the idle it starts to stutter then die. I am adjusting it on the hose, does that make a difference? I just replaced the fuel line and water separator filter. I haven't tried to start it yet. I rebuilt the carbs two weeks ago, but I forgot to adjust the float heights so I am going to take the carbs off and adjust the floats. Is there anything else I should be checking out adjusting to correct this problem. Thanks. Trying to get on the water for memorial day weekend.

Yep engine needs backpressure and impeller load..on hose 1200-1500rpm would be about right....

That mtr has to run a minimum of 1000 rpm when it's in the water. Other wise you'll get some rattles out of the gear box. 1200 is still best.

Thanks for the replies. I thought it may make a difference not being in the water.
