1150 merc fires but won't run
I posted here a few months ago and got some great info on this problem. With your help and a few test we narrowed it down to the trigger. I'm now ready to attempt to replace the trigger and was wondering if any of you might have a trigger ***. for a 1972 Merc 1150. And any tips on replacement. Also I have three other inline mercs any tips on where to list these.

Need more info.Serial#,year, 4/6 cylinder.
I don't think they want you to see on this site0? E-bay or Craigslist is a good bet.J

Just wondering, when you say "fires" do you mean it cranks over but wont start? or runs for a couple seconds and then dies?

(Fires) ??? Do ya mean it's getting spark or just the motor is cranking over ??

you need a flywheel removal tool if you dont already have one. http://www.amazon.com/Mercury-Mariner-Flywheel-Puller-Lifting/dp/B002L2HNDW/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1296481328&sr=8-7 This one comes with a handy lifting eye too

When I say fires I mean it fires and runs until you release the key from the crank position. I have found a great price on the trigger. Do ya'all think that is what it is.
