I found the problem with my 78 model 1150 merc stalling at W.O.T. it there was a clamp missing on the fuel line, from the quick connect to the fuel pump. I found it as I was removing the pump to rebuild it. I must still have an air leak somewhere because it still acts like the motor funs out of gas, if you give the ball a squeeze or two it picks up and runs fine.
I want to know what the max R.P.M. for this motor is. It's on a 18' Baja, open bow, and we have it loaded pretty heavy. I get 4500 on the tach with a top speed of 34 M.P.H.
Does this seem right or do I need to look at changeing props?

The engine really needs to turn in the mid 5000rpm range. If you run it loaded all the time, you might wanna look at a different prop.

You may have an air leak or it could be a partially stopped up orfice in a carb or it still might be the fuel pump. If, whatever it is, is making it run lean, ya better find it and fix it 'cause lean runnin' spells disaster for your engine.

g'luck & c/6

Hooty
