Hi. I just bought this boat and it came with a 1994 Mercury 115HP Outboard. When i started it, it starts in gear, even tho i have the throttle in neutral. When its running it tried to get it to neutral but no luck. Anyone have any ideas what the problem could be?

Thanks
Adam :)

Welcome to iboats, Adam.
It should freewheel a bit in nuetral in the driveway. But in the water, it should not spin like that.
If it is stuck in gear, you may have lower unit gearcase issues. I would drain and inspect the lower unit.
CLICK THIS LINK for more info on lower unit inspection.

could also be a problem in the control box.
u can try to disconnect cables and shift it
manually to check this.
good luck,
M.Y.

It could be that the last person to change the water pump didn't have the control lever in the right position when they took the lower unit off and when they put it back on, the lower unit is stuck in gear while the shift lever is in neutral. See if you have reverse?

Craig
