I am having a power problem with a mercury 115hp 4 stroke. I am told that it is a yamaha with a "black dress". The post by pine island fred entitled '115 overproped', is describing my problem to a T. I am posting my problems under the mercury repair section and am looking for more ideas. I appologize if I am in the wrong section. <br /><br />"The topic by pine island fred has ben moved to the prop post. I respectifully disagree with that movement. they were talking about fixing the problem with a prop conversion, but I think that the real problem in his and my case lies with the engine.

Re: 115hp power loss

My power loss in my Yamaha F115 was due to one or more injectors being blocked.

Great, now what do I do? How do I find out which injectors are cloged? Do I rebuild, repair, or replace the injectors? How do I keep this from happening again?

Re: 115hp power loss

Not saying that is your problem, just relating my experience. After my engine had a loss of power I had it serviced by my dealer. They attributed the blocked injectors to bad (dirty) gas and installed an external fuel filter / water separator. No fuel related problems since then.
