Hello All,

I have a 1984 Yamaha 115AET which sat idle for about 7 years.

So far I have replaced the oil in the lower leg, replaced the water pump, fitted new spark plugs, replaced the CDI (had to TRY to start ..then disconnect all leads of the CDI and reconnect them ..then it would start and run like a charm all day - this was an issue from 7 years ago!!).

First outing was not too bad ...started nicley and after giving it 15mins at low RPM openned it up a bit...got up onto the plane nicley and pulled as well as it always has. On this first run I had the fuel/oil at about 40:1.

The problem was that it would start surging after about 4000 RPM. I could hear it rev higher and could also feel it accelerate but it just wouldn't 'hold still'. These 'pulses' of power only lasted about 1/4 of a second and about 10-20 seconds apart.

So after a few phone calls to local (Australian) dealers I suspected fuel and the first option (easiset!!) was to replace the fuel pump ..one dealer said that after sitting for that long that the diaphram was probably out of shape ... so I replaced it and had the same trouble ..OK ..time to pull of the carbies and run a kit through them.

I was happy to find that on EACH carby one of the jets with the larger holes was completely gummed up ... no worries I thought and prceeded to strip & rebuild them one at a time.

The problem I have now is that the Selco manual I have says that the main jets have a larger number embossed on them and the pilots are the smaller. On my unit the jets are 16 (large hole) and 70 (small hole). This is all great except that according to the manual they are installed the opposite way around to where I pulled them out from!! This was why I did the rebuilds one at a time (so that I could refer back to the 'original'..).

The manual has been pretty good so far but I know that my carbs definatley have the jets reversed in relation to what the book is saying.

Can anyone please tell me which is the correct location for each set. One set are only 1/2 inch apart and to the bottom of the barrel (closest to the float) ... as per where I removed them from and these are the 16's or large holes. The other two (70's - small hole) are currently approx 2 inches apart and are above the barrel.

I know this sounds a bit convelluted but anyone who knows the Teikei carbs should understand what I'm rattling on about.

Thanks in advance!!
