Trying to figure out what batteries I need for this project I just picked up. So the guy I bought from said it's a 12-12-12 battery setup and I'm curious if that tells me what exactly I need for the batteries. It's a 1987 Evinrude 140 on a 1988 Stratos 279v Any help is appreciated.

Does the boat have a 24 volt trolling motor? If so, you need 2 deep cycle batteries for that, the biggest that will fit in the battery compartment. The third battery would be for everything else (starting the motor, running lights and electronics). A deep cycle battery would work for this, too.

Yes it is a 12/24. I was able to get it figured out and with some further rewiring of some things everything has checked out and even put it in the water for a stroll. About sank it though I'm thinking from the live well ducts being stuck open. No biggie I hope, everything is better with some lube right.
