Re: 12/24 AND 12 at the same time?
You keep mentioning two white jumpers! Jumpers to what and why two of them? If both of them interconnect Battery #1 pos to Battery #2 Neg, then the batteries are wired in series AT THE BATTERIES. The title of your post says 12/24 and 12 volt which is very misleading since you cannot get 12 volts to the motor in this fashion so the 12/24 selector switch on the motor will not function properly. I need to know what the wire colors are coming from the foot pedal for the motor. Typically a 12/24 motor will have one red (24 volts), one orange (12 volts) and one white or black (ground). Regardless what the motor wiring looks like, you simply connect your 12 volt house load to the battery that has the black ground wire on it. The pos and neg terminals of that battery will provide 12 volts. The reason you don't want to use both batteries to supply individual 12 volt sources is because of the jumper between the two batteries. If for any reason the ground on any of the 12 volt house loads come together you create a short that will fry wiring in heartbeat since the short is directly across the battery. Let me know what the troller wire colors are and we can get that wiring confirmed (at least by me). You also didn't mention whether or not you have a 12/24/Run/Charge switch and receptacle panel at the front of the boat. If so, how is that wired. Pictures from the front and back are needed. There are many 12/24 wiring schemes thanks to the electrical folks at the boat manufacturers.
