12/24 trolling motor receptacle

to the back of the receptacle i have 3 wires, orange, red , and white. i hooked them up but nothing happened.on all 12/24 diagrams i've seen there are 4 wires.i only have 3. any ideas?

You have a three wire system without a 12/24 switch panel or Run/Charge switch. The 12/24 switch is probably located on the foot pedal -- correct? If that's the case the system looks like this:

thanks silvertip ...i got the wires in order ,but not it only works on the 12v setting and not the 24v. could the switch be bad? i checked both fuses and they were ok. i dont know squat about electric systems, trying to get back in the water!

All I can tell you is to be certain the batteries are wired exactly as I show. Then measure between the red and black terminals on the receptacle to see if you have 24 volts. If not, your wiring is incorrect. If 24 volts is present, then you have a switch panel/trolling motor issue.
