I have a very old (badly beat up and patched) Jon boat I purchased for $100. My goal is to restore this boat for some weekend Bass fishing.
The transom wood was so rotted; I was able to remove 100 % of the wood with my bare hands.
I removed both aluminum corner supports and attempted to bend up the top transom lip with a pair of channel locks so I can slip in the new board. I afraid that I may be causing more harm than good with this technique; the channel locks are starting to make small tears into the aluminum.
Is there is a trick (or makeshift tool) for this? I don?t want to destroy the boat to a point where it?s beyond repair.
