I have an '84 Procraft 1750v F&S that is wired 12/24 to the trolling motor. I just put in a 24 volt, 70 lb thrust trolling motor. I changed the old 12 ga wires to 8 ga stranded. The book with new motor says to install 50 amp breakers instead of the old 40 amp. The old breakers say 12 volt. I see breakers with different voltages listed. What's the deal? Amps are amps, aren't they? Do I need to put breakers in that say 24 volt? If so then what is the difference in a 50 amp 12 volt breaker and a 50 amp 24 volt breaker? Any input would be a big help and greatly appreciated.
