Hello, I was wondering if anyone knows if I can use a powerhead from a 1985 120hp on my 1986 140hp. The 140 was running rough, so we checked carbs to find a grey residue on the #4 plug. did a compression found 120 on all except #4 was at 60. I have called around for prices on rebuilding just that cyl and it seems outrageous. I did find a power head from a 1985 120hp for a good price and was wondering if I can use it and what I would have to swap? it has between 120 and 125 psi on each.

Thanks

Mike

Should work. Be sure to use the 140 carbs after you give them a good cleaning. Dirty carb may have caused the failure.

In full agreement with Boobie. The two powerheads are identical... stroke, bore, etc etc.

Re: 120 and 140 powerhead question

Awsome. Thanks, I will buy it and after it arrives I'll get to work. Ill be sure to post back after the build or while im building if I have any questions. The 120 looks like it doesnt have any of the electronics or carbs. So it will end up beeing a total swap off my motor except for the long block.

Thank you guys again.

Man I love this site.
