My b-n-law has a 120 force tracker motor and it has a place for the motor tilt switch on the side of the motor, but there is not one there, just a removable cover. Any idea where he can get one. Will buy from someone if they have it. Just let me know thanks

There is a switch available. Either through an individual, or dealer. You will need to post the serial # of the motor, or take it to a dealer for more info.

Re: 120 force on motor tilt switch

I know this is an old post but if the motor you speak of is one produced by Mercury a Quicksilver switch will work. My brother gave me one for my 95 model Force 120. The switch is the same as his 95 Merc 75 hp. Pull out the plug and insert the switch, plug the three wires and you are set. Is a 10 minute job at most. Nice to have as well.

Re: 120 force on motor tilt switch

On my 95 model 120 looking from the rear the wiring harness comes in on the left side. Just in front of the exhaust plate and under the flywheel there are two power trim solenoids. The wires you are looking for go to these. One is blue with a colored stripe and one is green with a colored stripe.(I do not remember the colors of the stripes offhand) The wires from the wiring harness coming from the controls plug together with bullet connectors down in the lower cowling under the solenoids. Find the wires which have the colors that match your switch and unplug them. Your new switch will have two wires of each color one male and one female connector of each. Plug these in between your existing wires. Then you will have a red with what appeared to be a black strip. It goes to a 12v power source. On mine when I looked real close there was a red wire with a purple strip that had a female bullet connector and was plugged with a rubber plug. That is your power source. Plug those together and you are good to go. What year and size is your motor?? I just looked at my little brother's 95 model 75 hp Merc. There is also a tan wire and a brwon with a white strip I think it is. I think these would go to a trim gauge. I will maybe look at that next week when I get a chance. Will check them with my multimeter. If so I will put a trim gauge in mine. I do know they go to the trim unit. If you need any more help let me know. I will uncover it and pull the hood off the motor and positively identify the colors. Hope that helps........Seldon

Re: 120 force on motor tilt switch

By the way you may find a switch on ebay but my brother bought mine for me as a gift after he heard I liked his and missed having one like I did before. (we had hard wired one and mounted both on the stern and bow of my old bassboat) Anyway I think he gave like 25 bux for it at the Merc dealer. Any of them should either have it in stock or get it in a couple of days in the case of a smaller dealer. cheers......Seldon

By the way the wires are blue with white stripe and green with white stripe. Then of course the red with black or maybe dark purple stripe. I hooked it to red with purple on the engine. Let me know how it goes...
