120 h.p Johnson vro

Ok iam new to the whole boat deal. I have looked at a boat with a 120 hp johnson vro. Was told it is a 1981. Leads to my first question i can only find info that says the vro came out in 1984. Regardless of when it came out tell me your opinion of these motors. Still has vro hooked up.

The first year for the 120/140 was '85. Post the model number and we can confirm that's what you're looking at.

Thanks Jim i unfortunately did not get that far and it has been stored for the winter by the owner. I will get it as soon as i can in the spring. What about the motor itself are they good.

I had an '85 140 for over 20 years. It was a very good motor with few problems and zero long term issues.
