I have a 1995 120hp mecury sport jet. Serial # OE122701. Problem is it will not fire. I took the black/yellow lead off of the rev limiter and it ran ok for about 3 hours. Now it will not start again. How do I check out the stator? the stator is black and the part # on it is 398-818535A10. It has a red wire, red/white wire, blue wire, blue/white wire, and 2 yellow wires. I have 95 ohms between the red and red/white wires. About 50 ohms between the yellow wires. I am open between the blue and blue/white wires. I would think that I should have some kind of resistance between blue and blue/white wire. Any Ideas ? Thanks

ranran- It won't run because of spark? Did you check each plug for spark? While stators go bad I always go looking at the cheapest items first. Go and check to see if you have spark at the plugs then at the coils and the then at the power pack/s.Work your why back to the 240.00 dollar item.Buy a manual they give all the test on check each electircal part.<br />steve

Thanks for the reply Steve. I should have stated that I have new plugs and new plug wires. When I first had problems and removed the black/yellow wire form the rev liminator I had spark on all 4 plugs. I will check and make sure that I still have spark.

the stator in the black housing are the problem stator.when you read ohms set meter to x 1000 go across red @red with stripe also across blue @ blue with stripe.these are you high @ low side of voltage to your switch box.see what you have take no readings on yellow for they are your charging wires to your rectifier.try www.seilermarine.com for parts great prices.
