I am going to look at a 1994 Johnny 120 tomorrow, would this be a loop charged or crossflow, and which of the two is better. Also, would this be a 60 or 90 degree motor,,,,and is there a difference in these 2.Thanks for any input.

All 120's are 90 degree loopers. Great motors.

Good luck!

Excellent question!

120 hp / 122 cid vs 115 hp / 105 cid.

The 60 degree is lighter and revs quick.

The 90 degree makes gobs of torque and is a bit heaver.

Your choice, although there isnt a bad choice here. A lot depends on your boat, your specific intended use and what you expect.

Re: 120 Johnson,,60 or 90 degree,loop or crossflow

The reason I ask,my bro has a 95 115 rude,,and my goal in life is to,,,,,,,,,,,outrun him of course. Although, his motor is on a 17 ft glastron,he only runs 44,,,I am currently running 37-38 with a 90 johnny on my 19 foot aluminum. So,I am hoping that the 120 would put me in his ballpark,or in a perfect world, out in front. Thanks for your help.

Spend an additional $200 and get a manual jackplate. This way you can raise your engine a few inches and leave your brother in the dust even thought you would never find any dust on top of the water.
