I have a 1996 Mercury Force 2 stroke, the motor runs great at any speed above 1000 rpm?s and for a long time. My problem is when I am fishing and trolling under 1000 rpm?s for 10 to 20 minutes it runs out of fuel and then I pump the bulb back up and I can continue for about the same amount of time, then it happens again.. I have given some thought to putting in a fuel pump diaphragm kit, but would like some thoughts on that first. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks

Hello and welcome to iboats.

Your thread belongs in the Force/Chrysler forum as that's what it is, not the Mercury/Mariner forum since that's not what you have.

Force is the same engine as the old Chrysler. Take a look at the Mercury and Force 90hp specs, they are not the same engine. Mercury never built a 120hp. Mercury/Mariner did had a 115 and a 125. The easiest wat to tell is look at the pictrue to the left. Notice that "Mercury" is the only name on the engine? Now look at the later model Force, notice that "Force" is in large lettering and in small lettering some say "Made by Mercury Marine" Doewsn't say it IS a Mercury though.

I would start by replacing the fuel pump diaphragm. Especially since squeezing the primer bulb temporarily "fixes" the problem. It's relatively cheap and easy to do.
