2nd summer with first boat. 86 bayliner capri bowrider with a 125 force ob. Only paid 2600 for boat and trailer so I probably shouldn't complain but my kids want to go faster!! Tops out at 35 mph with 4 kids and my wife.. Can anything be done to squeeze out 5-8 more mph? Also my boat trim wont stay up, other than viagra is there anything quick and easy I can do to fix. Boat is very reliable as far as starting etc.

I have an '89 Capri Cuddy Cabin with a 125. It runs between 35 and 40 depending on how much weight is in the boat and how rough the water is.

You can probably try a different pitch prop. It sounds like a good speed. What length and weight is your boat?
I have a 18ft bass boat with a 120 Force, that pushes it along at 40-43mph. I suspect that my boat is probably lighter that yours though.
If a force runs well, don't mess with it. Just my opinion.

IM guessing it is either an 18 or 19 ft boat with a 19 pitch prop. Based on that, and the load you have in it (the family plus all the other paraphenalia), 35 dont sound all that bad. What are you taching at wide open with the setup you have. A couple of things that may help you:

- check rpms at wide open. Maybe decarb to get a few more. I know that sound silly but it does work - at least for me it did.

- higher pitch prop. Maybe a 21 but make sure you motor can handle it. An optimal prop should take you to the top end of your power range which for a 120 Force should be between 4500 and 5500 RPM. My Force 150 will hit right at 5600 RPM with a 21 Pitch prop on it. when you go to a higher pitch you will be sacrificing some low end power though.

- This may sound stupid but how does the hull look. Is it rough to the touch. A good compounding and waxing with a good wax will help you a tad bit.

Checking the RPM's is the key though to see if you are already operating in the power range you are supposed to. Good Luck

Deerdog
