My 1989 125 force will start to over heat at wide open and I trip a circuit breaker that controls trim and restarting. I have to sit at idle for 10 to 20 min. in order for the water to cool the motor. Had dear wife look at motor at speed and she said there is very little water coming out of motor. But at idle steam and water then just water come out. Am I starting to lose my water pump or is this common to this motor?

Re: 125 force overheating problem

If your impeller is two years old, change it just because it is due....But i doubt that is your issue here.I suspect the thermostat is not opening fully.Do change it as opposed to just removing it, because doing so will warp the heads in 100 hours or so of normal operation.
If that does not rectify this condition, it is time to tear it down and look for blockages in the cooling circuit (ie:exhaust manifolds, heads, ect)
