Need a little help my godfather willed me a bayliner 19ft cuddy with a 125 force I took it out last season and it ran doesn't like to idle hot and seemed like it was lacking power so I put it away till this week did a compression check and got 155 159 80 164 so i pulled the head and found a blown head gasket cylinder walls look good so i got a new gasket anybody know the proper torque sequence I wanna say it's a 1986 125 force thank you bob

Just start in the middle and work your way up and down, staggering as you go.20# tourqe.
Change the impeller FIRST and check the oil in the lower.
What year?
Prop size?? Check the #s again. Most of those Bayliners came with 17/19P
A wrong prop will kill the gas economy.
You really need a tach to check for the right size prop.
They sell an item called a Tiny Tach. From your Mercury dealer.
It gets grounded and wrap the lead around the top plug wire. Then you know the rpm.s
I had Forces for 24 years and I'd buy again.(course I can fix my own)
Also change the hoses and fuel pump diaphram.Install a small filter between the carb and the pump.Wally World G12 or G2 depending on the size of the hose.

Any idea I got the new headgasket but it seems the cooling ports are sealed around the cylinders on the new gasket is this a updated gasket ? Also is the impller hard to replace ?

Yes, it is newer design. It will work. The original gasket was a throwback from when the engines were Chrysler. The heads at that time had jackets cast around the sides of the combustion chambers and a single tube running down the back of the head so the perforations in the gasket were necessary. Your head has a completely enclosed jacket on the back and no cast in cooling around the perimeter of the combustion chambers. The perforations are not necessary.

There is a sticky FAQs at the top of the forum on replacing an impeller. Figure around an hour's time and only hand tools.

If you have an inch pound torque wrench, head bolts are tightened to 225 inch pounds in a spiral pattern working outward from the center. Do it in about 2-3 steps starting with all bolts at 125 inch pounds and working up to 225.

Since it is a new headgasket, after running the engine for about an hour and letting it cool, re-torque the head bolts. You will find that the heat will compress the gasket more and you will be able to get around an additional 1/4 to 1/2 turn to reach 225.
