Will a prop from a 1988 125hp force fit on an 85hp of the same year?

If the spline is the same, pretty sure yes. Are you replacing an alloy prop with a s/s prop? alloy for alloy? picth for pitch??

Splines are the same,He's changing from one motor to another.
The 125 might have a different pitch. You need to make sure they are the same.
Figure out the old and new pitch.Post them.
They'r gonna kick this to the prop section.

Probably the 125 will be a couple or more inches more pitch. That could load your 85. But need some data to answer the question and how things are now with your current rig like pitch of both props, current hole shot, WOT speed and rpm's.

Re: 125hp prop on a 85hp

I was worried bout the splines and the rear of the hub of the prop fitting the motor. The dia. And pitch are 13.5x17 which is what my 85hp has now. My current prop has a nick in one blade. I was eyeballing one on ebay but it was off a 125hp. It was aluminum as is my current prop.

How bad is the nick??Pics?
If both are 17p then buy.Splines are the same.
The thrust washer and other stuff should be the same.
Just make sure it's(thrust washer) put on right. It has a taper on the shaft and in the washer.
