I currently have a 13 1/4 x 19 alum prop on my 90 hp evinrude but found a spare 13 x 19 alum prop in the storage area. What would the difference be in performance if I use the 13x19. I recently bought the boat and don't have a tach and don't know much about boats so I wanted to ask before I swapped them. It's a 19 ft bow rider

unless the blade geometry is different you probably wouldn't notice any difference.

Ok, which is it, a 13 1/4 x17 or a 13 1/4 x 19 you are currently using? If you are going up 2 inches in pitch, you will lose about 400 rpm at WOT and have poorer holeshot.

Yup. Shouldn't be a problem at all, as long as it's got the proper hub and prop for the motor. Depending on the year Evinrude some props aren't interchangeable even if the hub is, so make sure it fits first.

ok so what should i check for other than the obvious wont fit and making sure both are thru hub exhaust?

That's about it. I only mentioned that because depending on the prop, spline count alone wont tell if it fits. The front of the prop housing itself is smaller in diameter by about 1/8 inch) on my 06 90hp Evinrude vs a Merc, and likely others. I bought a Turning Point with interchangeable hubs and at first couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong when it didn't fit, then I looked into it deeper and realized the Evinrude prop was a whole different part number vs for Mercs etc. You'll know right away if it fits or not.

A cheap tach would help. I wouldn't be surprised if your 17 pitch prop may even be a bit too big with your set up. I have a fairly light 18 ft aluminum boat (as compared to a 19ft bowrider) and a 15 pitch prop makes the RPM's fall perfectly in range. As mentioned above, you'll lose about 400 RPM's with the 19p vs the 17p prop. It wont hurt for limited use but will likely put more stress on the motor.

If all you want is to keep it as a spare, and it fits properly on the motor, you don't need to do anything. It will get you back.

Ideally, you spare should be the same size as the other prop, so both perform the same. Mess one up; stick the identical spare on it, and you're back in business(as usual).

If the spare is a different size(as in your case), not a big deal. You can run it until you have a chance to replace the "regular" one.

so which pitch do you reccomend?

Logic dictates the 17" as being more appropriate than the 19" on a 19 ft boat powered with only 90 hp.

Only a tachometer will tell for certain if you are operating within the motor's recommended rpm range.

Until you run a proper test, this thread is going nowhere.
