I have a 1998 mercury offshore 135 2 stroke that I picked up off a hurricane deck boat , the motor runs great, starts the first time every time, Idles smooth. The pee stream is hotter than other motors i have had, the stream also pulses at idle , it has a new water pump and 2 new thermostats that I installed , the temp gun has the heads running at average of 120 to 124 degrees. i also noticed that when the motor first starts before the pee water starts there is air pulsing out the pee hole . any ideas ???

You probably installed 143F stats. Your pee pattern depends on how your pee is plumbed. If it is down wind of the stats, as the engine initially warms up, at speeds below 2500 rpm (where the manual says the bypass popped valve is forced off it's seat by water pressure for increased cooling at higher speeds), the stat will get up to temp, squeak out a little water, enough to cool it down enough to shut back down and as the engine continues to warm the squirts become more frequent...or in warmer water they occur faster.

The OT is around 195F. Sounds to me like you are doing just fine. If you have a universal domestic hot water heater in your home and have the thermostat set to Normal, it holds the water at 140F to give you an idea on how hot are hots. Wink!

What is your serial # ? Do you know what block it is built on? I don't remember if the 135 was built on the 2.5 block. If it is a 2.5 block that is normal.

It should be pretty obvious if the thermostats are in series with the telltale. Trace the hose from the telltale back and see if it goes to the thermostat housings. If so, at idle, the stream would be about 140 and will pulse as the 'stats open and close. On a cold day, on the flusher, in neutral, you may not get a telltale.

At cruise speed I would expect a steady stream out the telltale.
