1998 Merc 135 Hp overheated because of the water pump I think - no tell tale.
Was bad enough to melt some wires close to the block. Repaired everything, started it up and it appears to be running ok.

Have a guy who wants to buy the motor, but he wants it put through a pressure check. I was going to do a compression check, but I was told they are different procedures.

What is the best way to check the motor to make sure it does not blow up on whoever buys it?

Any idea what the compression readings should be for this engine.

Thanks for everybodies help,
Gregg

Do a search here for compression check, you should find lots of reading material. All cylinders should be within 10% of each other. Ideal pressure about 120 PSI +-.
Sounds like you got lucky by not seizing it up.
