135 Optimax Fuel/water separator install....seal sensor threads ?

Hi guys. I need to replace the fuel water separator on my 135 Optimax. It's a canister type that looks much like a car engine's oil filter. My question is, there's a tapered plastic sensor that screws into it's bottom. At the " full in position ", the taper seems to disappear. Does that need any thread sealant ? If so, what type of sealant ?

I use regular thread sealant
