Does the 1998 model have a hose adapter port for flushing? It looks like it has a removable cap, next to the telltale hole, so I am assuming it is what it is for. Second if it is can I run the engine with water attached here as opposed to using muffs? Finally I would know the answers to these questions, but I do not have a real mercury manual, where can I get one cheap?

Yes you have a flush port at that point. It is for static flushing only. That means don't run the engine and you will need the device to easily accomplish this.A dealer ordered owners manual will set you back about 25 bucks.Fuel for this engines gotta get you somewhere near that in a day and a set of plugs will set you back 60 bucks.25 for some good info and main. tips does'nt sound to bad.

Thanks for the info. About the manual, Does anyone know where I could order the manual online from Mercury? Or do I need to call a dealer?
