What kind of perfomance can I expect to get from a 14 ft bayliner capri w/50 hp force?? Will I be able to pull and adult skier?? How will this boat handle a NJ bay afternoon chop?? thanks in advance for your help

Re: 14 ft bayliner speed????

Depending on the age of the rig depends on how fast it will go. 14' is pretty small and for a chop in the bay I would avoid anything above 1 - 1 1/2 feet. I would not play in the whitecaps which could prove to be an unsafe and unpleasant ride.

Yes you can pull one skier with two people in the boat but there will be a sustantial effort. Expect about 28-33 mph out of the boat.

Bob

Thx BOB_VT - have you ever been on the 14 ft bayliner? I used to have a 13' whaler and currently have a 14' aluminum deep v - do you think the bayliner will be a smoother ride than these two models??

The whaler has an inherantly rough ride due to the hull design and the bayliner will ride better than the aluminum boat due to weight alone.

Bob

IMHO, it won't be much smoother than either except in calm water. Bayliners are light glass hulls so they bounce and it's probably a semi-v and they bounce too. Personally, I'd rather be in the whaler or the deep v aluminum in a chop.

You should be able to pull an adult skier but you may need to change to a low pitch prop to get the hole shot to do it.
