Hi! I've lurked on here for a while when I need help with my boat, but now I need some help.
I have a 1978 140 hp Evinrude, model #140843C. When I push down the throttle to go from idle to top speed the engine dies. I can get it to go to top speed by choking the engine a couple of times while idling. When I do this I hear the engine rev up and then when I push down the throttle it goes. I have cleaned the carburators several times (the last time about 2 months ago). There is one screw that I can't get out on the float assembly because the regular head screw has been stripped on both carburators. The fuel pump is about 7 years old and I haven't cleaned it in a while. I plan on starting there. Are there any adjustments that can be made to the carburator? I bought a carburetor kit 7 years ago and replaced all the parts. Is it time to do it again?
