Ok after few months of floor and interior work time has come to start getting engine ready...
I hooked up the battery ...turn the key and nothing ...my volt guge shows over 12 ..lights light up..but the moment i turnt the key gauge goes to 0 and starter doesnt even move...i still have the carb and distributor off the engine ..belt isnt even on there yet but i just wanted to make sure i get the power and that the start works ...my trim doesnt work either ..im not sure i might have some wires still loose as i have been replacing some of them but at least starter should work i think...where shuld i start diagnosing? Battery came from 4cyl honda just for now do you guys think it might be to weak? Distributor or alternator shouldnt have anything to do with the starter coz they are nor connected at the moment, all ground wires are in place .Any help is really apreciated ...Thanks..
Btw everything was working before i started working on the boat 3 months ago

Thanks

Dom

All fuses ok , do alternator wires have anything to do with the starter or the trim?

Sounds like you're going from a Built-in Regulator, to an External Regulator Alt.....
If So....
You'll need to Add a Voltage Regulator.............

Or,
If I'm misreading this,
You're going the Other way.......
If so,
Tape-up the Unused wires......
