What damage can be done to a motor that had a clogged water pump passage? The boat dealer put the lowerunit on after replacing the seals in the unit and the waterpump. I got it out on the lake and ran it for about 5min without cooling. It got so hot it melted the plastic casing inside the motorcover.<br /><br />My big question is can running it hot affect the piston and rings?
