14ft panga type boat question

hello folks,good day and a pleasant week for you all..

i am wondering.. i currently have a 14ft panga boat (not panga brand,but its a panga boat)...it currently has a 15hp yamaha enduro engine..the boat says it hold maximum 25hp...

what can i do to this boat so it can hold like 50hp ? would i have to make any modification or anything? or can i just put the 50 hp and thats it?

Yes. You could make it longer and maybe wider. There's a great thread on here on a hull extension. Look in Restorations.

however, ive seen smaller boats with big engines...my gf has a friend, she has a boston whaler dauntless 13ft .. with a 50 hp engine..
why does mine only hold a max of 25?

t0r My response was half in earnest, whole in jest.

The hp rating for your boat is based on an equation that takes into account the length and beam of your boat, as well as the type of hull it is. For an outboard planing hull, which you have, it is:

(2 x L x W) - 90 = hp rating

For your boat, the equation would look like: (2 x 14 x 4) - 90 = 22 (which is rounded up the nearest "5") which gives you the 25 hp rating.

Because adding too much hp to a boat would be dangerous situation for everyone involved, you probably won't get any advice here on how to make it unsafe.

You could always look for a bigger boat?
