Can I cut into the fiberglass under the pads of the front seats of my 86 bayliner capri open bow for extra storage?

Force2,

Some places under those pads, may be the hull itself. I don't know your boat, so I am only guessing, but I would be very carefull. I own a Bayliner and from experience with my boat if Bayliner took the time to put it there, it needs to be there. Once again I am just guessing. If someone out there knows for sure, hopefully the will resopond.

I think you are talking about the bow seats in an open-bowed hull? If so, the seats are probably molded into the decking which goes on the hull as a unit. You might be able to see under there from in underneath the steering console, but I'm not sure. I had a 15' Chrysler that had some room underneath the bow seats, but that was an early-'70s model. Your Capri might have flotation foam up under there, and the hull angle might be such that there is little room anyway.

got to figure out what is under there first.
