I have a 1995 15 H.P. Johnson,(J15EEDS), that constantly leaks fuel out of a black overflow located on the side of the carb., this overflow appears to be connected to the main jet, I have replaced the float and needle valve on this carb but it still insists on flooding fuel, it floods the enjine to the point of "liquid lock", this carburetor is less than 2 yrs. old straight from factory, please help.

You need to install a complete carb kit after thououghly cleaning and blowing out all passages with compressed air. The age of the carb is not part of the equation.

Re: 15 hp Johnson flooding problem.

Thanks for the advice, Solittle. I took it apart again, and this time I paid careful attention to the passageways in the top plate and the main jet, A little compressed air and soaking and I put that $195.00 carburetor back together and now the engine is perfect again.. Thanks for your time, everyone kept telling me that the float was bad, but I went through 2 of them and it turns out the original was fine!! I could have been riding the boat 2 months ago if only I had of payed a little more attention to detail. Thanks
